  • Launched Nov. 30, 2004, as the Third Frontier Network, replacing the earlier copper-cable based network known as the Ohio Academic Resource Network, or OARnet.
  • The network backbone consists of 1,600 miles of high-speed, diverse, long-haul fiber routes acquired by agreements and special fiber construction, running between Ohio’s major metropolitan areas.
  • Connected in Cleveland with Internet2, a consortium of more than 200 U.S. universities, industry and government that develop and deploy advanced network applications and technologies for research and education.
